What is Spiritual Direction?

The term "spiritual direction" is a little misleading. A good spiritual director is not, in any way, directive. On the contrary, they listen, reflect, encourage, and highlights what God might be doing, helping you remember where you've been so you can see how far you've come. They're more like a spiritual listener, companion, or friend. They provide an extra set of ears to help you hear the still small voice of God while pointing out the traps you may be falling into and the themes that may be emerging in your spiritual life. Putting it simply, in my work as a certified spiritual director, I try to hold open a space where folks can encounter God.

How Does it Work?

Each spiritual direction session lasts roughly an hour. I begin by inviting the Holy Spirit to join us, asking Him to direct the conversation and bring to the surface what He would have us talk about. What follows is a conversation that allows you to process your walk with God. I don't coach, teach, judge or try to fix you. It's not traditional counseling or therapy. It's about caring for your soul. It's between you and God. I simply facilitate the conversation.

Once you choose the option that works best for you, I'll reply with some suggested dates and times for your first session. You can meet with me in person, if you live in the Kansas City area, or we can meet online. Needless to say, due to my other responsibilities, space is limited. That said, I'll do my best to accommodate every request.
